Q. What are the typical responsibilities of an Executive Assistant?
A. An Executive Assistant is responsible for supporting high-level executives with administrative duties. The position requires flexibility, excellent verbal and written communication skills, advanced computer skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors. Duties generally include:
General office management Screening phone calls Calendar coordination Arranging complex travel itineraries Managing expenses Preparing and arranging presentations Event planning Investment tracking Recruiting, training and supervising other staff Philanthropic assistance Managing research projects Preparation of financial reports Broad business software experience including: spreadsheets, presentation software, word processing, email, calendaring and scheduling software
Q. What is the salary range for an Executive Assistant in the Bay Area?
A. The salary of an Executive Assistant is principally based on two factors: the amount of experience the candidate brings to the position and the duties and hours included in the job description. Executive Assistants in the Bay Area typically earn between $60,000 and $100,000 per year, plus benefits.
Q. How are potential Executive Assistant candidates screened?
A. First and foremost, the candidates represented by our agency must have recent and long-term professional experience with strong references. We are especially proud to work with Executive Assistant candidates who have completed long-term assignments through us and have returned to us for further placement.
The candidates you meet through us will have completed a detailed and lengthy in-person interview process with our Placement Counselors. We then speak to each reference at length and write up a detailed summary for your review. (We encourage you to speak with these references as well.) We conduct several background checks including driving record check, Social Security scan, education verification and a criminal background check. All of our background checks are documented and provided to you for your review.
Q. How is the Firm's fee structured? A. Town & Country Resources places Executive Assistants on a direct-hire basis. For Executive Assistant placements, we can work on either a contingency or retained basis. In both of those cases, we offer an option to start a placement on a "temp to perm" basis where appropriate for the client and candidate. For searches on a contingency basis, there is a non-refundable $150 Registration Fee that allows lifetime access to all of our services. Our placement fee includes the cost of background checks.
